Pol Roger Champagne Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill - Vintage 1995

Honey, mushrooms, brioche and perhaps a hint of buttered popcorn — complex with a hint of autumn. Fully mature. Acidity and bubbles fading, near it’s peak. Great Champagne,  Copyright — Per Kamperin Winemaker Notes: The Vintage Brut 1995 is rich, powerful and flavorsome with an expressive palate. In style and qualityis not unlike one of its illustrious predecessors, the 1985. It has an intense, radiant golden color with traces of warm amber. There is a persistent stream of very fine, regular sized bubbles that rise upwards to a delicate, full durable ‘cordon’ at the rim. Initially discreet, even closed, its nose combine an extreme delicacy with subtle complexity, skillfully combining some gentle, leafy aromas (straw, cut flowers) and equally understated dried fruit aromas (almonds, apricots) before blossoming into an abundance of competing aromas: fruity (fruit candy), lactic (beurrre noisette) and spicy (mille-fleurs honey, gingerbre

2008 Marcarini Barolo Brunate (Updated)

I am, of course, biased when it comes to Barolo. I prefer wines with little to no new oak, freshness  instead of power, and austerity instead of sweetness. I’m a big fan of Old School Baroli. This bottle;  Still relatively young, needed some time to open up. Typical fine tannins, found some cherries, a little tar and perhaps roses, with a nice hint of tobacco. The wine has a broad and emphatic balsamic richness with nuances of menthol and a meaty kind of feel, while still maintaining a freshness and zip. A great Barolo with potential and real good value for money IMO. This wine will improve over the coming years, currently at beginning of it’s drinking window. First labelled and sold as a single-vineyard wine in 1934, Brunate is one of the Grand Crus of the Langhe region. Why? Because of its ability to deliver high quality fruit year-in, year-out. 2004 Giuseppe E Figlio Mascarello Barolo Monprivato. The definition of a ”Unicorn Wine”, elegant and complex, though still at beginning of drinking window IMO. Slow oxed (10h) & another 30 min in the glass before drinking, paired with self-picked wild Swedish Chanterelles on toast. Nice pairing IMO and in this bottle we found, as expected, notes of leather, roses, truffle and perhaps also a hint of tea-leafs and tobacco. Great Barolo!

2005 Château de Fargues

2005 Château de Fargues, 37.5cl. "Nothing is excessive and, despite the wine’s richness, everything is in balance.” Intense 🍯🍑🍊 and lots of botrytis. Half bottles at mid/beginning of drinking window now. Sauternes Sauternes are characterized by the balance of sweetness with the zest of acidity. Some common flavor notes include  apricots ,  honey ,  peaches  but with a nutty note, which is a typical characteristic of noble semillon itself (cf. Australian noble (late-harvest) semillon). The  finish  can resonate on the palate for several minutes. M any of the rare and unique species live in the depths of Koster’s underwater fjord, the Koster trench. It runs through the national park from north to south and attains a depth of 247 metres.
