Stockholm City Hall, with its spire featuring the golden Three Crowns, is one of the most famous silhouettes in Stockholm. It is one of the country’s leading examples of national romanticism in architecture. The City Hall was designed by architect Ragnar Östberg is built from eight million bricks.  Copyright - Per Kamperin The 106-meter tall tower has the three crowns, which is the Swedish national coat of arms, at its apex. Behind the magnificent facades are offices and session halls for politicians and officials, as well as splendid assembly rooms and unique works of art. After dinner in Blå Hallen, the Blue Hall, Nobel Prize laureates, royalties and guests dance in Gyllene Salen, the Golden Hall, with its 18 million gold mosaic tiles. More pics below;

Classic and typical, but still rather young IMO — cherries, roses, tobacco, a bit of leather and some tar with a hint of floral nuances. Rather long finish and a sense of minerality.  Wine in the glass.. Winemaker Notes; An impeccable balance. Aroma and finesse with power and body at the same time. Sweet nose, with hints of cherry, black currant and licorice. Fruity tannins. A union of characters. Front Labels WS Cherry and plum flavors are buried in a dense matrix of tannins, shaded by tobacco, leather, tar and iron notes. Linear and persistent on the finish, if less expressive at this stage than its peers. Best from 2021 through 2040. WA This vineyard is located in Serralunga d’Alba, where the soils are rich with clay and limestone. Vines are 50 years old, on average. A wine of pure pleasure and a sophisticated gastronomic wine, Cristal is both powerful and delicate, combining subtlety and precision — Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon, Cellar Master This Champagne is a favorite of mine. Powerful with fine bubbles. Balanced, bready, apples, nuts and brioche, with a slight hint of earthy nuances, a bit reductive. Drink now IMO . The emperor asked Louis Roederer to reserve the House’s best cuvée for him every year. He was particularly fond of the House’s wine. I admit to being a Nebbiolophile and in this expensive and highly appreciated top Barbaresco you will find all the expected traditional, and for the Nebbiolo grape typical references to varying degrees; roses, dried cherries, leather, violets and perhaps a hint of tar, but no truffles. This bottle (slow ox’d for 7 hours) was robust, but pure, with floral and mineral notes, opulent but not forceful in any way with splendid tannins present. This is a truly great wine, mature and balanced with great complexity, earthy of course, with an elegant finish with nuances of acid berries and also an inkling of citrus bergamia aromas. This wine is drinking beautifully today IMO, and possibly better than ever? I will enjoy the remaining few bottles over the next couple of years, but perhaps keep one for the long run.. Maison Philipponnat’s Clos des Goisses comes from one of the few enclosed sites of the Champagne region. The 1998 vintage is 65% Pinot Noir and 35% Chardonnay. Label — Copyright Per Kamperin Despite extremely contrasted weather conditions, the 1998 Clos de Goisses is a powerful, rich champagne. This intense golden champagne revealed interesting and complex aromas of ripe white fruits, flowers, mineral, some biscuits and, surpringly, a slight hint of mushrooms. Slightly oxidative with a long finish. This wine still needs time, but is definitely complete already, just between ”freshness” and ”maturity”. It is produced using grapes grown on a unique, pure chalk hillside with a 45° slope facing due south, in Mareuil-sur-Ay. In Champagne, the term Blanc de Blancs designates Champagnes made only from Chardonnay grapes. A classic Blanc de Blancs is restrained and elegant when young, yet with ageing it develops a mouth-coating brioche richness that overlays an intense expression of fruitiness. Pol Roger’s vintage Blanc de Blanc is produced in small quantities from Grand Cru vineyards. Interestingly, it is never produced in magnums, just single bottles.
